Paleo Baking Basics

As someone who’s love for cooking started with baking, I was beyond intimidated of leaving that all behind me. Luckily, I didn’t have to with all of the amazing substitutes out there. The options are endless! With a little effort, you won’t miss a brownie, a cookie, a cake, or a muffin out there.  I almost enjoy paleo baking more because there is nothing better than watching the jaws drop after you tell your friends what they just ate is just a part of that “crazy diet” you’re on. Here are my pantry must haves to get you started.

Grain Substitutes

  • Coconut Flour
  • Almond Meal/Flour
  • Tapioca Flour
  • Arrowroot Power
  • Golden Flax Meal

Sweeteners

  • Dates
  • Honey
  • Grade B Maple Syrup
  • Agave Nectar
  • Coconut Sugar

Fats

  • Coconut Oil
  • Palm Shortening
  • Almond Butter
  • Cashew Butter
  • Ghee

Flavors

  • Pure Vanilla Extract
  • Vanilla Beans
  • Cacao Powder
  • Cacoa Nibs
  • Enjoy Life Chocolate Chips
  • Dried Fruit
  • Nuts- Almonds, Pecans, Walnuts, Cashews
  • Spices- Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Allspice, Ginger, Clove

From The Fridge

  • Eggs (Farm fresh when possible)
  • Almond Milk (or your preferred nut milk)
  • Applesauce
  • Canned Full Fat Coconut Milk
